Study area

Study is the Chu River Basin which occupies a large area of Kyrgyzstan. Chu River is formed by confluence Kochkor and Dzhuanaryk rivers. Among river flow it takes more than 30 tributaries, the largest of which is the Chon-Kemin. There is Ortho-Tokoy reservoir with total volume of 470 million m3 In the upper zone of theChu river. Chu River is used extensively in the national economy, mainly for irrigation. It belongs to the Aral Sea basin, before reaching the Aral Sea river is lost in the sands of the Muyun Kum desert.

Area of glaciation - > 1% of the total basin area
